The 5kg Carbon Dioxide fire extinguisher is supplied complete with bracket meaning that it can quickly and easily be wall mounted. Our carbon dioxide extinguishers are manufactured from lightweight and robust aluminium making them easy to use and lift.
How does a carbon dioxide fire extinguisher work?
Carbon dioxide is a non conductive gas that displaces and/or removes oxygen from the atmosphere to smother a fire. The extinguishers are stored pressure and are supplied fully filled.
How to operate a carbon dioxide fire extinguisher? *
Twist the safety pin on the handle to break the plastic seal and pull the pin out of the handle. If you squeeze the handle, the fire extinguisher will now operate.
Stand approximatley two metres away from the fire. Keep the fire extinguisher in an upright position and aim the horn at the base of the fire.
Grip the handle firmly to operate the fire extinguihser and sweep from side to side across the fire to creat a 'blanket covering' of carbon dioxide.
Carbon dioxide fire extinguishers are safe for use on live electrical fires but remember to safely turn off the electricty supply as soon as possible.
Be careful if you hold the body (base) of the fire extinguisher when it is discharged as the fire extinguisher will become extremely COLD during use.
